Context

Let talented MBA students from Nyenrode Business University solve your business challenges (in June-July). Get practical consulting-like recommendations based on relevant and theoretically supported concepts, tools and frameworks that are taught in the MBA program.

This ‘Company Project’ is the last phase of the Full-time MBA program. Students will be working in pairs and will work 8 weeks on solving the challenge. In total they will work on average 200 hours on this challenge.

Challenge topics

Although the topics should be related to the “Business Administration” domain, the challenge can be related to strategy, information and communication technology, finance/accounting, HR, operations and supply chain, and marketing.

Profile of the students

All students are recruited, screened and successfully passed the selection rounds of Nyenrode’s admission and intake procedure. Some characteristics of the students:

• Young international professionals, from various countries
• At least 3 years of relevant working experience
• Different sectors (e.g., healthcare, pharma, chemistry, consumer good, logistics, IT, hospitality)
• Different disciplines (e.g., engineering, marketing, consulting, finance, supply chain, HR)

Company requirements

• Exist for a minimum of 5 years
• At least 15 employees
• A minimum annual turnover of € 1 million

PLEASE NOTE: Smaller firms and start-ups can also sign up; however, their projects are subject to an additional screening to ensure the correct level of inherent “complexity”.

Costs

To help facilitate this challenge a small fee of €500,- (ex tax) per team applies.

PLEASE NOTE: You will only be charged when matched to a team.

Practical information

• Students will work in pairs of two;
• Students are willing to sign NDA and any other equivalent contract;
• Given the Corona crisis the students are willing to work from home;
• The company projects will take place in months June and July 2020 (the defense will be in August 2020 where the company can optionally attend);
• The pairs of students will have a supervising professor at Nyenrode Business University
• The students and university expect the company to remain engaged in the project and help the students where needed, although the students are mature, experienced, and can work independently.

Planning

• May 1: Deadline to submit a challenge (we might be ‘sold out’ before this date)
• May 8: Sharing the challenges with the teams. They may contact the contact persons of the challenge companies directly to discuss the challenge, ask questions, and see if there is a 'match'.
• May 10: Teams hand in their preferred challenges including a brief motivation why they want to solve this challenge. The companies receive an overview of the teams that have chosen their challenge.
• May 14: The companies indicate their preference regarding the team(s) they want to work with.
• May 15: Our matching algorithm will create perfect matches. Matches are shared with the teams and companies.
• June 1 – July 31: Students work on solving the challenge.
• August: Defense. Each team will present their work to the company.
